"Playing for Ringling Bros. Circus has been one of the most demanding and enjoyable experiences of my drumming career. This gig isn't just about the grooves I play, it's a lot about how I interact with the acrobats clowns and animals to enhance what they're doing on stage. Finding a happy medium for both the groove and accents is what makes it so much fun. The cues for the show always change, they might come faster or slower than a previous show, so I always have to be ready for anything. It keeps you on your toes!

I use the Roland SPD-SX Sampling Pad quite a bit throughout the show, which sends the front of house loops and the rest of the band a click. I have a few taiko drums programmed into the pad for some big moments during the show. I use a Boss kill switch for some acts because I need to change presets very fast. I also use the Roland V-Drum for timpani rolls which is controlled by a Roland TD-30 brain.

The kit is a Yamaha Live Oak Custom with sizes 10" 12" 16" and 22". I use a custom snare made by Famous Drums as my main snare and it's a 13"x 5." It's my favorite snare to play because of the richness and depth it provides. It's made out of beautiful African Padauk wood. My side snare is a 10"x 6" PDP Black Out Maple."

  • Clear Emperors on all toms
  • Coated Emperor X on main snare
  • Coated Emperor on side snare
  • Clear Powersonic on bass drum

I use all Zildjian Cymbals. From left to right:

  • 13" K Custom Hybrid Hi-Hats
  • 10" K Splash
  • 18" A Custom Crash
  • 10" K Custom Dark Splash
  • 16" A Custom EFX
  • 20" K Custom Session Ride
  • 17" A Custom Crash
  • 17" K China

The Vic Firth AS7A is my stick of choice.

Landon is a proud endorser of Vic Firth Sticks, Remo Heads, Clear Tune Monitors and Drumtacs.
