Joe Choroszewski’s drum set setup for the Broadway production of Finding Neverland at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.
"In February of 2016, I took over the drum chair at 'Finding Neverland' from Rich Mercurio when he moved on to a new show. Rich is one of the best drummers I've ever heard and is always very stylistically appropriate. It was my intent to replicate the prior setup as closely as I could with the gear I had available. It's a very straightforward drumset book, augmented only by a Roland SPD-SX sampling pad, and no traps percussion.
The drums I'm using are Pearl Session Studio Classic series with the following sizes (depth x diameter): 16x22 bass drum, 8x12 and 9x13 mounted toms, 14x16 floor tom and 5x14 snare.
As for cymbals, I'm a proud Sabian artist. For this production I have enlisted: 14" AAX Studio Hats, 18" HHX Studio Crash (different cymbal pictured), 20" HH Classic Ride and a 17" HHX X-Treme Crash.
The Roland pad is mostly integrated with the acoustic kit playing sampled sounds such as concert bass drum, metal pots and pans and power toms with reverb. And that's about it! This show is a joy to play."
