Chicago - Regional - Joe Beam

Joe Beam's set-up for Chicago at The Kinkaid School in Houston, Texas.

“Because of limited space, I am using the midi keyboard and computer to play the xylophone and bell parts. I am using sampled sounds from Virtual Drumline 2.5.5 by Tapspace. I often use Apple's MainStage, but not for this show. I am running directly through Kontakt.

I am using my iPad for the music with an excellent program for musicians called ForScore.

The tambourine is a Grover - Beryllium/Copper. I mounted it for easy access for the one time it is used in the show. The break drum is used for the "Clank", as chosen by the director. The kit is a Yamaha Rick Marotta HipGig - 16" kick, 10" and 13" toms, and 12" snare.  Nice tight sound!

Sabian Cymbals: 14" Paragon Hats, 8” Paragon Splash, 14" HHX X-Plosion Crash, 16" Paragon Crash and 20" Artisan Ride.”

Joe is currently Percussion Professor at Lee College in Baytown, Texas and a free-lance musician in the Houston area.

Joe is a proud endorser of Sabian Cymbals, Innovative Percussion and Evans Heads.
